Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt ready for Labor Day Doubleheader

The Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt Presented by ARP will celebrate the Labor Day weekend with the continuing tradition of visiting two different Michigan race tracks to start the extended holiday weekend.

The Michigan based series celebrating its 35th season of competition will start the holiday weekend with its third visit of the season to Hartford Speedway in Hartford, MI. This $1,300 to win event will have the best 360 sprint drivers from Michigan, Indiana and Ohio competing on the huge ½ mile oval. A standing room only crowd is expected again after the first two trips to the southwest Michigan oval hosted near record crowds. Current point leader Ryan Ruhl from Coldwater MI will be trying to complete the Hartford clean sweep after capturing the first two features at Hartford this season.

Then on Saturday August 30, the Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt will head north to Ron Flinn’s Crystal Motor Speedway for the second day of the Michigan Labor Day battle. The first two events of 2014 at the famous 3/8 mile oval for the Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP went to Dustin Daggett in April and Randy Hannagan in July.

The 35th season of competition for the winged sprint series is winding down with only five events left to be run in 2014. For more information please go to the official series website www.sprintsondirt.com.

Ruhl Wins Newton Classic at Plymout

By T.J. Buffenbarger

Pymouth, IN — (August 16, 2014) – Ryan Ruhl continued his career best season on Saturday night by winning the Bob Newton Classic at Plymouth Speedway with the Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP.  Ruhl started sixth and took the lead from Gregg Dalman with six laps to go to claim the victory.

Defending SOD champion Dustin Daggett led the first 15 laps before making contact with the wall and damaging his right rear wheel.  Daggett went to the work area and made repairs, but was no longer in contention for the victory

After Daggett’s misfortune Dalman inherited the lead and held the top spot for three laps until Ruhl made the pass for the lead.  From there Ruhl was never seriously challenged as he motored to victory over Dalman, Randy Hannagan, Chase Ridenour, and Andy Teunessen.

Daggett Blasts to Victory at Merritt

By T.J. Buffenbarger

Merritt, MI — (August 2, 2014) – Dustin Daggett made an opening lap move pay off on his way to victory on Saturday night at Merrit Speedway with the Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP. Daggett blasted to the lead from row two with a three wide pass to take the lead and motored through lapped traffic to take the victory.

While Daggett was pulling away after the tremendous start Daggett’s nemesis in the 2014 SOD championship race Ryan Ruhl slid off the track in turn four. Ruhl restarted from the tail of the field and thrilled the Merritt fans racing up through the field. Aided by two cautions, Ruhl was soon racing with Kyle Pitts for second position. Pitts, who was having his career best SOD feature run, battled with Ruhl until two laps to go when Ruhl took the runner up spot. At that point Daggett’s lead was insurmountable for Ruhl to overcome. Pitts held on for a career best third place finish while Troy Chehowski and Chase Ridenour rounded out the top five.

Rienour, Ruhl, and Pitts won heat race events. The dash was scratched due to lighting issues. SOD teams and officials would like to thank Merritt Speedway for pushing the feature up in the program to complete the event.
