Ryan Ruhl Races to Crystal SOD Checkers

By Bob Buffenbarger
Crystal, Mi.-(August 30, 2014)- Ryan Ruhl thrilled the large crowd at Crystal Motor Speedway by re-taking the lead from Dustin Daggett with two laps remaining to capture the Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP 25 lap feature Saturday night.

Gregg Dalman and Ruhl started on the front row with Ruhl taking command on the the first lap with Dalman, Craig Karazim, Daggett and Kyle Pitts falling in line. Laps were clicking off quickly as Ruhl was putting distance between himself and Dalman and by the 10th circuit, 6th starting Daggett had climbed into third place and one lap later the red 2m of Daggett took 2nd and was gaining on Ruhl.

At the 15 lap mark, Daggett was knocking on the door and was all over Ruhl nearly making the pass as they approached lapped traffic. The red flag flew for Gregg Dalman as he made contact with the turn four wall while running 3rd, and turned over on lap 18. Dalman was not injured but was finished for the night.

As the green appeared once more Daggett and Ruhl were racing side by side with the 11r of Chase Ridenour now moving into the mix. With laps winding down, racing for the lead was intense and Daggett made the pass at the stripe on lap 21. Ruhl was determined and with two to go, Ruhl went low in turn two and drove under Daggett to take the lead once again. One lap later the yellow light flashed for a John Gall spin in turn four.

This would set up a green, white checker finish and Ruhl was up to the task with a good re-start and went on to take the checkers with Daggett, Ridenour, Brett Mann and Kyle Pitts rounding out the top five.

Crystal Motor Speedway did a fine job running a fast paced program tonight with some threatening weather not far away. The Sprints on Dirt dash was cancelled because of these conditions.

Heats were won by Gregg Dalman, Dustin Daggett and Craig Karazim

Daggett Wins at Hartford

From Mike Strevel

Hartford,MI— (August 29, 2014) – Dustin Daggett found his way to the Hartford Speedway victory lane Friday evening in front of a crowd announced as over 3,000. The four time Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt Presented by ARP champion took the lead with 8 laps to go and held off a late charge from current point leader Ryan Ruhl to capture another victory, his 97th SOD sanctioned win.

Rookie racer Craig Karazim drew the pole position in the Engine Pro redraw and looked like a strong candidate for his first SOD feature win. Dustin Daggett steadily was moving up from his 7th starting position and made an incredible pass diving into turn one with eight laps to go to pick up his third feature victory of the 2014 season.

Brett Mann had a very strong run going moving into contention mid-race actually getting to second before a last lap engine failure ended his nice run. Ruhl tried several times in the last few laps to capture the third Hartford feature of his year, but Daggett was just too strong. Following Daggett across the line was Ruhl, Chase Ridenour had a career best third place finish with a very impressive run Karazim ended up fourth and Mark Aldrich took fifth.

The racing was delayed over two hours due to a late afternoon thundershower. However the hard working Hartford Speedway crew lead by promoter Tim Dibble was determined to get the final race of the season in at the wicked fast half mile oval and a very supportive crowd waited to witness another great Sprints on Dirt program. The entire staff of the Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt Presented by ARP would like to congratulate Hartford on an incredible comeback year and appreciate them sticking it out to complete the race Friday evening.

Ruhl Wins Newton Classic at Plymout

By T.J. Buffenbarger

Pymouth, IN — (August 16, 2014) – Ryan Ruhl continued his career best season on Saturday night by winning the Bob Newton Classic at Plymouth Speedway with the Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP.  Ruhl started sixth and took the lead from Gregg Dalman with six laps to go to claim the victory.

Defending SOD champion Dustin Daggett led the first 15 laps before making contact with the wall and damaging his right rear wheel.  Daggett went to the work area and made repairs, but was no longer in contention for the victory

After Daggett’s misfortune Dalman inherited the lead and held the top spot for three laps until Ruhl made the pass for the lead.  From there Ruhl was never seriously challenged as he motored to victory over Dalman, Randy Hannagan, Chase Ridenour, and Andy Teunessen.
