FIFE LAKE, Mich. (August 12, 2011) – Ryan Ruhl came from inside row two and drove to his first ever Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP feature win at Cherry Raceway Friday night.

The win came aboard the 3w of car owner Jim Wohlfeil in front of a nice crowd that braved rain showers in the surrounding area, and also saw a brief rain delay prior to features.

The 25-lap main event saw Illinois visitor Blake Nimee start on the pole with the 00 of Ryan Grubaugh outside. At the completion of the first lap, Ruhl pulled even with Nimee at the stripe. Nimee held the top spot until Ruhl made the pass on the 3rd circuit. With five laps in Grubaugh had moved into second as 6th starting Brett Mann had charged to 3rd and Nime slid back to 4th.

By lap 15, Grubaugh had closed on the leader Ruhl several times but could not get by. Brett Mann was putting pressure on Grubaugh with Gary Fast, Andy Tuenessen and Joe Bares all showing muscle. It appeared that it could be another green to checker feature but lap 19 saw Tim Champlin and Ryan Grubaugh get together in turn four bringing out the caution. Grubaugh retired to the pits as Champlin continued.

On the restart Brett Mann was right on Ruhl’s bumper but when the green appeared Ruhl motored away and went on to take the checkers followed by Mann, Gary Fast, Andy Tuenssen and Joe Bares.

Heats for the 17 cars on hand were won by Brett Mann, Joe Bares and Gary Fast. Troy Chehowski won the dash.

Daggett Digs Up ASCS SOD Win at Winston!

From Mike Strevel

ROTHBURY, Mich. (July 29, 2011) – In front of a capacity crowd at Winston Speedway, Dustin Daggett of Grand Ledge, MI, picked up his sixth feature win of the 2011 ASCS Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt Presented by ARP season.

The Renegade Race Fuels sponsored feature event went green to checkered, the fourth time this year that an ASCS SOD feature event has gone uninterrupted by a caution flag.

The fifth-starting Daggett had to fight his way to the front, fighting for position with early leader Andy Teunnesen and Joe Bares. It was near the half way point of the feature that the winningest driver in ASCS SOD took the lead and dominated the remainder of the feature. A late charge by Brett Mann made things interesting, but there was no denying the driver of the Mott Motorsports 2m.

The top five in the MAHLE/Clevite short track challenge event were Daggett, Mann, Ryan Ruhl, Bares and Teunnesen.

Taking heat victories were Daggett and Mann. The Gaerte Engines Dash went to Matt Lumbert and a special Australian pursuit race went to Daggett. This victory also qualified Daggett for the Oshweken Shootout at Oshweken Speedway on September 16, 2011.
